# Files and viewers

> A file that will not open, shows the wrong view, or is missing.

  <Accordion title="Unable to load file">
    When the detail reads "File too large", the file is over BioBase's limit: 25 MB for formats that open in a [viewer](/viewers/overview), 50 MB for PDFs, images and text. Open the file in another application from the project folder. For other details, select **Retry**.

  <Accordion title="BioBase cannot display this format. Open the file in a compatible application.">
    The file is a legacy .doc, or its contents don't match its extension. Save a .doc as .docx in Word to open it here.

  <Accordion title="A BAM, CRAM, bigWig, bigBed or compressed file does not open">
    BioBase has no viewer for these formats. The pane reads "BioBase cannot display this format." or, for a file larger than 25 MB, reports a binary file it cannot display. Open BAM, CRAM, bigWig and bigBed files in a genome browser. Decompress a file such as .csv.gz to open its contents here.

  <Accordion title="This file is password protected. Remove the password in the application that created it, then open the unprotected copy here.">
    BioBase opens password-protected .xlsx and .docx files only after the password is removed, and never asks for the password.

    Remove the password in the application that created the PDF, then open the unprotected copy here.

  <Accordion title="Failed to load PDF preview">
    The PDF is damaged or isn't a valid PDF. Open it in a PDF reader to check it.

  <Accordion title="This spreadsheet could not be opened. It may be encrypted or damaged.">
    Open the file in the application that created it. If it opens there, save a new copy and open that copy here.

    Open the file in Word or the application that created it. If it opens there, save a new copy and open that copy here.

  <Accordion title="This file could not be displayed here. Save a copy to open it in a dedicated application.">
    The viewer stopped while rendering the file. Open the file from the project folder in another application.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="No genomic coordinates were found in this file, so there is nothing to place on a genome.">
    The [genome viewer](/viewers/genome) reads a chromosome and position from each record. Check that the file's extension matches its contents.

  <Accordion title="A CSV or TSV shows raw text">
    CSV and TSV files open as a table. If the pane shows the raw text, switch to **Table** at the top of the pane.

  <Accordion title="Where did the Data Agent's outputs go?">
    The Data Agent writes its outputs into the project folder, at the paths the analysis gives them. Files a synced workspace pulls from Infera Cloud arrive in a `research` folder inside the project folder. Select **Open workspace folder** in the sync strip.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="BioBase could not bring [file] into this workspace.">
    BioBase could not copy this output into the workspace folder. It tries again before the next analysis in this workspace. If that retry fails, reconnect and try again, or ask the Data Agent to run the step again.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Choose files from this project directory.">
    The file you dragged into the composer is outside the project folder. Copy it into the project folder, then drag it in from the file explorer.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="No speech model selected. Download one in Settings > Voice.">
    Dictation needs a downloaded speech model. Download one in Settings, **Voice**, then start dictation again.

  <Accordion title="Dictation finished, but no text field was focused.">
    Select the text field you want to dictate into, then start dictation.
